Matching the Right Skewers for Your Dipping Items
When it comes to chocolate fountains, not all skewers are created equal! Every dipping treat has its own texture and weight, and choosing the right skewer will ensure the treat does not fall into the chocolate fountain.
Why Skewers are Important
Purchasing a chocolate fountain for home use is a great way to entertain guests at a party or bring the family together on a Saturday night for a chocolate-infused evening. However, if your dipping treats are constantly sliding off, you'll likely end up with a messy table and hungry guests. After all, you want the food to make it out of the chocolate fountain and onto the plate!
Leave BBQ Skewers at the Grill
To avoid the above scenario, steer clear of round skewers that were designed for grilling vegetables and meat, such as shish kabob skewers. Although these work well with mushrooms, onions and peppers, you are most likely not dipping these vegetables into chocolate! Subsequently, it is best to leave the round skewers for the grill. In addition, lengthy skewers, such as BBQ skewers, only increase the likelihood of food falling into the chocolate fountain.
Choosing the Right Forked Skewer
Instead, choose forked skewers either in wood or plastic varieties. Forked skewers should be 6 inches long to help avoid messy splatters from shaking hands or from bumping into another display tray.
Sephra's wooden forked skewers keep slippery dipping treats, such as strawberries and pineapple bites, from sliding off into the chocolate during the dipping process. Crumbly food like brownie bites or angel food cake also adhere well to wooden forked skewers.
If you choose plastic forked skewers, these will also work well with all your dipping treats. You even have the option of choosing clear or black plastic forked skewers. If budget is an issue, however, wooden forked skewers cost half as much as plastic ones, and since guests will use the skewer only once and then discard it, wooden skewers are more economical.
It's the details that count when planning a chocolate fountain party, so choose forked skewers approximately 6 inches in length - and messy spills and lost dipping treats won't slow your hungry guests down.
