Why Chocolate Fountains are Appearing in Churches on Sunday

Sephra Chocolate FountainWould you consider going regularly to church if a commercial chocolate fountain would be present? Would you reconsider the purpose of Lent if your pastor offered you and the congregation a Sephra chocolate fountain, complete with dipping treats that include chocolate crosses?

These questions were answered by Reverend Albert Bogle of Bo’ness St. Andrew’s in Scotland, who decided to try “Chocolate Sunday.”

Enjoying a Commercial Chocolate Fountain During Lent?

Rev. Bogle instituted “Chocolate Sunday” to make a clear point this lent season. During the worship service, Rev. Bogle rented a commercial chocolate fountain complete with chocolate sweets and chocolate crosses for parishioners to enjoy. Although some figured Rev. Bogle was trying to improve church attendance, he said, “We’re inviting people to debunk the secularity of Lent.”

What does that mean? He wants to remind parishioners that giving up chocolate, for example, during Lent, won’t change the world. Instead, parishioners should “take up a cause worth dying for,” said Rev. Bogle.

Rev. Bogle had parishioners indulge in the delicious decadence a commercial chocolate fountain offers during Lent to remind people that giving up a secular habit, such as eating chocolate, isn’t really the point of Lent. Since Lent is mean to bring Christians closer to understanding Christ’s suffering on the cross, Rev. Bogle wanted to remind his parishioners that giving up chocolate isn’t the way.

Sephra Chocolate Fountains in Churches a New Easter Trend?

If you own a commercial chocolate fountain business, you might use this example and offer your commercial chocolate fountain services to local churches on various Sundays throughout Lent next year. You might even offer an Easter Sunday special to celebrate the risen Christ with a Sephra chocolate fountain after Easter services.

If Rev. Bogle advises his parishioners to praise the Lord and pass the chocolate, then you can reach out to this new client sector and not only garner additional Sephra chocolate fountain rental business, but expose more people to the delicious possibilities of Sephra's commercial chocolate fountains.

Sermons during Lent can use the commercial chocolate fountain to preach about the true meaning of Lent in a non-threatening manner. Most people are content to keep chocolate in their lives, and providing a delicious taste of Sephra chocolate fountain treats could help everyone keep an open mind for alternative Lent sacrifices. So invite your local churches to “praise the Lord and pass the chocolate!”
