Sephra Eco Bubble Tea Straws 12mm x 210mm - 125pc
Sephra ECO Plant-Fibre Straws 12×210mm
Sephra ECO Straws are strong, wide plant-fibre straws made from natural wheat fibre and starch. At 12mm wide and 210mm long, they’re designed for bubble tea, smoothies and drinks with toppings such as popping boba or tapioca pearls.
Unlike paper straws, these are more durable and don’t go soggy as quickly. They also feel smooth and neutral in the mouth — closer to plastic than paper — so they’re comfortable to use and don’t transfer taste. That makes them a reliable option, including for customers with sensory needs who dislike the texture of paper or wooden utensils.
Made from agricultural by-products, these straws are fully compostable and biodegradable, breaking down naturally without leaving harmful waste. For cafés, bubble tea shops, dessert parlours and kiosks, they provide the strength of plastic straws with an environmentally responsible finish.
Why Choose Sephra ECO Plant-Fibre Straws?
• Made from renewable materials – natural wheat fibre and starch, bonded with a water-based adhesive
• Compostable and biodegradable – break down naturally in composting conditions
• Stronger than paper – hold their shape longer in cold drinks
• Smooth and neutral feel – closer to plastic than paper, no taste transfer
• 12mm diameter – wide enough for popping boba, tapioca pearls and fruit jellies
• 210mm length – ideal for standard bubble tea cups
• Eco-friendly alternative to plastic – suitable for busy commercial use
Biodegradable vs Compostable
The terms biodegradable and compostable are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct meanings:
• Biodegradable refers to materials that break down naturally over time, but it could take years and leave behind harmful residues or pollutants.
• Compostable, however, means a product is designed to break down in a composting environment (like a compost heap or commercial composting facility), typically within 3–6 months, leaving no harmful residues and turning into nutrient-rich compost.
Sephra ECO Straws are compostable under industrial composting conditions (85°C - 90°C) and will break down within 180 days, meeting ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standards. While they are ideal for industrial composting, they may still break down in home composting conditions, but this process will take longer and depend on factors such as temperature and moisture.

Q: What are these straws made from?
A: Sephra ECO Straws are made from natural wheat fibre and starch, bonded with a water-based adhesive. They are fully compostable and biodegradable.
Q: Are these straws stronger than paper straws?
A: Yes. Unlike paper straws, which often soften quickly in drinks, these plant-fibre straws hold their shape for longer and provide a sturdier drinking experience.
Q: What do these straws feel like?
A: Sephra ECO Straws are smooth and sturdy, with a neutral feel in the mouth. They are closer to plastic than paper, without the scratchy texture or sogginess of paper straws. They don’t transfer taste, making them comfortable for most customers, including those sensitive to textures.
Q: Are they suitable for bubble tea toppings like popping boba?
A: Yes. At 12mm wide, they are perfect for popping boba, tapioca pearls, fruit jellies and other bubble tea toppings.
Q: Are they compostable?
A: Yes. These straws are fully compostable and biodegradable under standard composting conditions, breaking down naturally without leaving harmful waste.
Q: Do these straws contain gluten?
A: The straws are made using wheat fibre and starch, so they may contain trace amounts of gluten. Although they are food-contact products (not meant for direct consumption), they have been tested for protein residues, including gluten, and have passed the SGS Protein Residue test at 10 PPM. However, those with gluten sensitivities should still consider the possibility of trace amounts.
Q: Can these straws be used in hot drinks?
A: Sephra ECO Straws are designed for use with cold drinks, such as bubble tea, smoothies, and milkshakes. While they are durable and hold up well in colder beverages, they may soften in hot liquids (above 60°C). For hot drinks, we recommend using straws made specifically for high temperatures, such as stainless steel or reusable glass straws.
Q: What’s the difference between biodegradable and compostable?
A: Biodegradable products break down naturally over time but may take years to fully decompose and leave harmful residues. Compostable products break down much faster (typically within 180 days) in composting environments into nutrient-rich compost, leaving no harmful waste. Sephra ECO Straws are compostable and meet ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standards, ensuring they break down quickly in industrial composting conditions.
